Pattern Matcher

(Posted Thursday February 9th)

Using the Proform Pattern Matcher you can quickly see any trends that stand out in a horses career.

Lets take the 13.20 Southwell as an example from Friday February 10th

This is a 1m Handicap and the horse I would like to highlight is Sofias Number One

The first screen shot is the original pattern matcher in Proform (there are two pattern matchers in Proform) and shows form from Jan 1st 2008

At a glance we can see there may be some mileage in looking into the 1 mile form of Sofias Number One

We can quickly setup a 1 mile filter in Proform and the pattern matcher screen then refreshes with just 1 mile form, and we are presented with the new patterns for 1 mile form.

We can now see that Sofias Number One has run 4 races at a mile finishing 2nd 1st 5th and 1st
The 5th came at Kempton so at today's venue of Southwell Sofias Number One is 2nd 1st 1st in three runs at 1 mile.

So the horse looks interesting Today so lets look a bit deeper

The two wins over 1m at Southwell came in March/April 2011 off marks of 71 and 67, was then campaigned on the Flat Turf for 3 unplaced runs before returning to 1m on Fibresand off 63 and ran 2nd in Nov 11.  Then switch to wolvs over 1m 141y, unp, then back to Southwell over a trip too long, 1m 3f.

His last two runs, which have been this year, were at Wolvs over a too short 6f and back at Southwell but again over a too short 6f, in running comment was "outpaced, soon ridden along, ran on final furlong, not reached leaders"

All these runs have now led to Sofias Number One running off a mark of 60 today and at last back over the perfect trip and track.

Will Sofia be Number One today? Time will tell.
